Can I create my own ICC profiles?
Yes.
Each device in the digital chain, camera, scanner, monitor and printer has its own individual colour 'space'. Generally, the supplied generic profiles from the manufacturer of your product will be sufficient to produce a reasonable result, certainly initially. But as time goes on, each device will 'drift' and the colours will shift, sometimes significantly.
ICC profiling using a colour management system allows you to create custom profiles specific ti your own installation. The remote profiling service for printers is only handling one part of the chain, and many users prefer to have full control of their devices.
