Scanner & Digital Camera Profiling & Calibration
Most scanners are provided with an ICC profile, but obviously, the cheaper scanners come with generic profiles. Repro quality scanners often are supplied with an individual factory produced profiles for that scanner.
However, as products age, particularly scanner lamps, this has an effect on the efficiency and accuracy of the scanner, and it becomes necessary to update the profile on a regular basis to ensure best quality and accuracy.
Digital cameras are now beginning to be shipped with profiles, but again they often tend to be generic, particularly making use of the sRGB standard profile. An individual profile created for your camera will always ensure you get the best results.
